Villupattu is an interesting folk song story teller, Nadan Kathai was written as a villupattu some centuries ago. The author of villupattu is not known. the Nadan Kathai villupattu is the only ancient record to shown the glory of Nattathi Nadars and Anjupathu Nadars. This villupattu speaks about the avathar of Kumaraswamy Nadan, His childhood, His love with a girl Iyyenkutti, His marriage with Poovananji Nadachi, His appointment as the chief of Anjupathu Nadu, His farm development, enmity between agnates, plot to kill him etc and His resurrection as GOD and the temples dedicated for Him.

even now, this villupattu is sung in Nadan koils during koil kodai festivals. This villupattu was written years and years ago in palm leaves. In 1980 Mr.Joseph Thangasamy Nadar printed the villupattu in a book form. The copies are available in government (public) libraries.
