Kumaraswamy Nadan Villupattu
Villupattu is an interesting folk song story teller, Nadan
Kathai was written as a villupattu some centuries ago. The
author of villupattu is not known. the Nadan Kathai
villupattu is the only ancient record to shown the glory of
Nattathi Nadars and Anjupathu Nadars. This villupattu speaks
about the avathar of Kumaraswamy Nadan, His childhood, His
love with a girl Iyyenkutti, His marriage with Poovananji
Nadachi, His appointment as the chief of Anjupathu Nadu, His
farm development, enmity between agnates, plot to kill him
etc and His resurrection as GOD and the temples dedicated for
Him.
even now, this villupattu is sung in
Nadan koils during koil kodai festivals. This villupattu was
written years and years ago in palm leaves. In 1980
Mr.Joseph Thangasamy Nadar printed the villupattu in a book
form. The copies are available in government (public)
libraries.
